#microchallenge10: It’s a sign!

Each month three new #microchallenges are set to add interest and silliness to your kilometres.

These three fun #microchallenges will help you better appreciate your surroundings and have fun on your walks. Our favourite six #microchallenge completers receive a Walk1200km badge, while the best entry for each challenge receives a prize from our partners.

#microchallenge10: It’s a sign!

Signs inform, advise, guide and even scare us off. Can you find a quirky, different or interesting sign on your walk? Thanks to Lynette Satchell for this idea.

Partner prize: A pair of feet-comforting Bridgedale Midweight Merino Performance Fit socks.

#microchallenge11: Pack a picnic

Pull out a blanket and enjoy a scenic picnic on your next walk. It could be in the bush, on a mountain, by the sea or lake. The more elaborate the picnic, the better. Thanks to Louise Slocombe for this idea.

Partner prize: A $100 Back Country Cuisine voucher.

#microchallenge12: Cross a stile

Stile’s provide a safe way to cross a fence of some kind and they are also a gateway to adventure and something new and interesting. Prove your agility and cross that stile!

Partner prize: A Rab Namche Gore-Tex Paclite jacket worth $500!

How to enter
You must be a registered Walk1200km participant to win. Take a photo of yourself completing the challenge (yes, people make a photo more interesting and winsome!) and share it on the Walk1200km Facebook group with a descriptive caption and using the relevant hashtag – e.g. #microchallenge10 – by March 20 (or email entries to walk1200km@lifestylepublishing.co.nz with the relevant hashtag in the subject line and the description in the email). Winners will be published in the April 2024 issue of Wilderness. Got an idea for a challenge? Email walk1200km@lifestylepublishing.co.nz
