In each issue, three new #microchallenges are set to add interest and silliness to your kilometres.

These three fun #microchallenges will help you to appreciate your surroundings and have fun on your walks. Our favourite six #microchallenge completers receive a special badge, and the best entry for each challenge receives a prize from our partners. 

How to enter 

You must be a registered Walk1200km participant to enter. Upload a photo with the relevant hashtag and caption to the Walk1200km Facebook group, or email your photo to walk1200km@lifestylepublishing.co.nz with the hashtag included in the subject line by June 21. Winners will be published in the September 2026 issue of Wilderness.

Inspired by our Off the Beaten Track story in this issue, can you make a rock the star of a shot? Perhaps you will find a way-finding cairn, a fascinating rock formation, a landscape framed by a cave or rocky outcrop, or a single attractive rock in your path. #microchallenge13
