#microchallenge16: Sock it to ’em!

Take a photo of your favourite socks while on a walk.

Susan Duncan knits her own colourful walking socks. “I’ve walked so many kilometres and worn through a few. I do a spot of darning and then, when it’s time to say farewell, I can always make more!”

Partner prize: A pair of Bridgedale Midweight Merino Performance Fit socks!

Emma Taylor’s ‘sock-adjacent’ neon pink legwarmers stole the show on a trip to Meg Hut. “Blazing pink on the snowscape and warm, what’s not to love?”

Judy van den Yssel-Richards also knits socks. On a recent trip she tried darning a heart into one of her creations. “It proves my love for the man whose sock it is and my love of repairing things,” she said.

#microchallenge17: Go for a walk at night

Share an atmospheric photo from a nocturnal wander.

Shona Kelly visited Fenella Hut, and upon hearing kiwi, went in search. Though unsuccessful in sighting one, she did enjoy the night sky.

Partner prize: $100 breakfast hamper from Yum!

Andrea Howard worked late one evening and then enjoyed the night air on an atmospheric 4.5km walk home.

Jenna Reynolds went for a 5km walk at dusk and enjoyed watching the stars appear.

#microchallenge18: Send a vision of warmth

Show us how you stay warm on a winter walk.

Lani Brewer kept warm on the Holdsworth–Jumbo Circuit by starting the day with a bacon and scrambled egg wrap!

Partner prize: A pair of AKU Women’s Rapida Air shoes worth $279.99!

Deborah Barton’s son warmed up with Milo on the Robert Ridge Track in Nelson Lakes National Park.

Antje Duda stays warm with her wilderness coffee ritual: she walks to her favourite picnic bench in Pile Bay, where her barista-trained son makes a perfect brew.
