Andrew Roberts overnighted at Pahautea Hut with his mum Karen and friend Kaitlyn Baker. “Mum is chipping away at Te Araroa in stages and is stoked to accomplish Pirongia.”

Kate Brookson-Morris and son Laurie (12) headed to Pinnacles Hut in Coromandel Forest Park. “Laurie has recently caught the overnight tramping bug,” said Kate. “He even loved the descent in the pouring rain, when the path turned into a stream.”

Dianne Parker had breakfast at Bushline Hut on the way to Lake Angelus in Nelson Lakes National Park.

Elise Renwick climbed Mt Angelus via the Cascade Track then walked out over Robert Ridge. “I’m so happy to have ticked this off,” she said. “A huge day, 24km in nine hours.”

Jacqui Hickman, Gill Smith and Christine Soffe had a great time tramping the Paparoa Track. “Superb huts, fellow trampers from around the world and pretty decent West Coast weather,” said Jacqui.

Naomi Barrett and Jenny Morton completed a delightful tramp to Sunrise Hut. “I’ve been to Sunrise many times, but this was Jenny’s first trip,” said Naomi. “Hopefully this will be the first of many more hut bagging trips for us.”

Nicola Holland spent the weekend walking at Boyle River. “I thought this swingbridge was amazing – stunning views as well as awesome movement in the bridge.”

Rebecca Foley and her daughters visited Old Waihohonu Hut on the Tongariro Northern Circuit. “The girls’ dad helped build the new Waihohonu Hut in 2010,” said Rebecca. “They found his skills were still top notch!”

Briony Forsberg, Jeremy Eade, Kelly Bingham and Matt Paterson tackled the Jumbo–Holdsworth circuit in Tararua Forest Park. “At the Mt Holdsworth trig it was very windy, so propping the phone on the pack to take this photo was tricky,” said Jeremy (second from left).
