#microchallenge10: Share Walk1200km with a friend

Want to win gear and vouchers from our sponsors? Each month we set three new #microchallenges to add interest and silliness to your kilometres.

Each month we’ll be setting Walk1200km participants three #microchallenges to inject a bit of fun into your walks. They’ll also encourage you to appreciate your surroundings better. Our favourite nine #microchallenge completers will each receive a Walk1200km badge. The best entry of each challenge receives a prize from our partners.

#microchallenge10: Share Walk1200km with a friend

Can you introduce friends to the challenge by going on a walk with them? (Yes, your photo should include your friend(s)!) Thanks to Walk1200km participant Hilde Hoven for this idea! #microchallenge10

Partner prize: A $100 voucher to spend at retail partner Further Faster!

#microchallenge11: Find an unusual stone

Can you discover a stone with a difference? Maybe its shape reminds you of something or its colour or texture catches your eye. Let’s give a humble stone its moment in the spotlight! #microchallenge11

Partner prize: A $100 Back Country Cuisine voucher.

#microchallenge12: Pick some flowers

Can you make a bouquet out of flowers found on your walk? Share your most colourful collections! #microchallenge12

Partner prize: A 1600-lumen Fenix HM70R rechargeable headlamp worth $170 from safety partner Plan my Walk.

How to enter

Take a photo of yourself completing the challenge and share it on the Walk1200km Facebook group or on Instagram, with a descriptive caption (this part is important!) and using the relevant hashtag – e.g #microchallenge10 – by January 16 (those without social media can email entries to walk1200km@lifestylepublishing.co.nz with the relevant hashtag in the subject line). Winners will be published in the March 2023 issue of Wilderness. Got an idea for a challenge? Email walk1200km@lifestylepublishing.co.nz.
