Aroha Hyland took Addie Miller and Maddy Hyland to Fern Burn Hut. “You can see the hut in the background,” says Aroha.

Kylie Gilbert took her two boys, Rickon and Johnan, on an overnighter to Rangiwahia Hut in Ruahine Forest Park. “We managed to sneak in before the foul weather hit,” said Kylie.

Rosa Maclaurin and Pepi Lux got one last tramp in before school started. “They walked the steep hill to spend the night at Blue Range Hut in Tararua Forest Park,” says Rosa’s mum Susan.

Bryan Adams took his daughter Bella on her first overnight camping trip. They headed to Mangatainoka Hot Springs campsite via the Te Puia Track in the Kāweka Range. “She loved the trip…but not the heavy pack,” said Bryan.

Diane Winter took her niece Olivia Knight to Bushline Hut in Nelson Lakes National Park for the night.

Karyn Rastrick and her daughter Mila visited the Pinnacles in Coromandel Forest Park.

Jackson Webber took his sons Theo and Frankie to Great Barrier Island where they walked the Aotea Track. “They would have appreciated a few less stairs,” said Jackson.

Vicky Leach, Jack Leach and Pippa Melville made it to the end of the Abel Tasman Coast Track. “Jack still has the Gandalf stick he found on the first day,” says mum Melanie.

Jasper Hughes walked to Pinchgut Hut in Canterbury with family and friends. “They had a wonderful time swimming in the waterhole on the way up,” says mum Pryderi.

Greta Hoben and Briana Sullivan had lots of energy to spare on the Queen Charlotte Track.
