Graham Sutcliffe, Adrian Pike and Allan Loader spent a night at Waiorongomai Hut in Remutaka Forest Park.

Tim Harrex went tarp camping in the Waihāhā River Valley with his sons.

Christine Byrne and Janine Davis made the most of summer by walking Wairakau Stream Track to Lane Cove Hut in Northland. “We tackled the Kaiaraara Rock / Dukes Nose overlooking Whangaroa Harbour. It was a hot but restorative day and good to get out and about,” said Christine.

Ruby Dragicevich did an “an easy after work trip from Christchurch” to Sign of the Packhorse Hut via Gebbies Pass, on Banks Peninsula.

John Cook, Lyell Bright and Alex Dickson visited the hard-to-reach and historic Chancellor Hut, above Fox Glacier. “We enjoyed sun, cloud, rain and especially the kea entertainment,” said photographer Rod Dickson.

Logan, Stan, Daniel, James and John completed the Old Ghost Road from Lyell to Seddonville.

After 20 years of talking about it, Pip McVeagh finally walked the Heaphy Track with her sister Jo. She loved the fact her new raincoat matched the nīkau flowers. “It was a bit wet on the last day, but we had a great time, and are looking forward to our next trip together.”

Teresa Smeed and Leanne Cowan had a “fabulous day” walking the Cape Brett Track to the lighthouse, where they spent the night. “It’s a very challenging track but with beautiful views across the Bay of Islands and to the Poor Knight Islands,” said Teresa.

The Tribe family overcame flight delays, rainstorms and a broken boot to tramp the “sublime Abel Tasman Coast Track”.
