Kaweka’s Studholme Saddle Hut has been relocated 500m downstream to the former site of Studholme Bivvy. The team effort involved Kahu New Zealand helicopters, Superior Builders and the Backcountry Trust.

The hut was airlifted to its new location in April, but the project began two years ago with the relocation of Studholme Bivvy.

The hut was originally built, in 1969, by the New Zealand Forest Service. It can be accessed via Makahu Saddle car park (3hr), Mackintosh car park (5–6hr), Cameron car park via Kiwi Saddle     Hut (7–7.5hr), or Lakes car park via the Rogue Ridge route (3–4hr, experienced trampers only).
