Best for

All round three-season tramping comfort and suitable for light-and-fast movers.

Overview

The updated Parsec -6 has similar premium features and materials to its well-regarded predecessor, but steps up to an impressive 900 fill-power with Muscovy RDS high-loft down, which is hydrophobic-treated. The shell and liner are soft 20D nylon ripstop (100% recycled). Other features include zoned insulation, a deeply sculpted hood and draught collar and a Toe-asis foot-warmer pocket. It has an anti-snag three-quarter zip, a stash pocket, quilt and blanket loops and a compression stuff-sack. It’s rated to 0°C comfort and -6°C limit, and available in regular or long.

Performance

The Parsec range provides a roomy mummy fit that balances comfort with performance, allowing wriggle room without compromising heat retention. The insulation is uniformly thick and plush, and a generously lofted hood and neck baffle provide a cosy seal around your head. The foot pocket worked well to warm cold feet and squishes away when not needed. Combined with the smooth, anti-snag three-quarter-length two-way zip, silky smooth fabric and buoyant fill, these features add up to a sleeping bag that has a luxury feel from the moment you first handle it. Although the down is hydrophobic-treated, we note that the shell is not particularly water-resistant.

What we like

Comfortable dimensions and materials, anti-snag zip, 900 fill-power hydrophobic down.

Limitations

Water resistance of shell fabric.

Why buy the Parsec -6?

Therm-A-Rest expertly blends premium materials, refined features and a thermally efficient design to make a class-leading bag that’s roomy without being too heavy. It is a reliable three-season pick for weight-conscious trampers and through-hikers.
