Overview
The light and packable LT is part of Kathmandu’s updated high-end XT range. Premium 800 fill-power water-repellent HyperDry down and zone-mapped Primaloft Gold insulates the baffles and the shell is durable 100% recycled Cordura ripstop. It has a close-fitting lightly elasticated hood and stretchy cuffs, and the waistband is adjustable on both sides. There are two handwarmer pockets, a single phone-sized chest pocket and two large drop-in inside pockets. The down is RDS certified.
Performance
The slim fit through the arms and torso layers well beneath a shell. It has generous length in the torso too, which makes it cosier around the hips than shorter-cut jackets. This close, efficient fit traps warmth and saves weight, but mobility is limited by a tightish fit across the shoulders and in the hood. This isn’t an issue for easy to moderate tramping, but it is restrictive if you need your arms on steep terrain, and it limited the thickness of the midlayers I could wear. The shoulders, cuffs and underarm use synthetic Primaloft insulation instead of down – a good choice on these high-wear, moisture-prone areas – and the down has retained its loft well over time. The fabric’s DWR finish is reliable and the Vislon main zip and ripstop Cordura shell add durability.
Why buy the XT Series LT?
Thru-hikers, occasional trampers and casual users will appreciate this light and highly packable jacket with moisture-managing hybrid fill.
