#microchallenge34

Each month, three new #microchallenges are set to add interest and silliness to your kilometres.

These three fun #microchallenges will help you to better appreciate your surroundings and have fun on your walks. Our favourite six #microchallenge completers receive a Walk1200km badge, and the best entry for each challenge receives a prize from our partners.

#microchallenge34: Share your walking wallpaper

The most important walking photo is the one you choose as your phone’s wallpaper. Share a screenshot and tell us what it means to you.

Partner prize: A pair of Bridgedale Midweight Merino Performance Fit socks.

#microchallenge35: Find a bargain

These days we’re all on the hunt for the cheapest of everything – lunch, fuel, walking kit. Find something you think is a bargain (but not free), show it to us and tell us how you rate it.

Partner prize: A $100 Further Faster voucher!

#microchallenge36: Climb the longest flight of stairs

What’s the longest staircase you can find – up a hill, a lighthouse, a tower – or anything else? Tell us roughly how many steps there were and how puffed you were after climbing it!

Partner prize: Salewa Ortles Light Mid PTX boots worth $660!

How to enter

You must be a registered Walk1200km participant to win. Take a photo of yourself completing the challenge (yes, people make a photo more interesting and winsome!) and share it on the Walk1200km Facebook group with a descriptive caption and using the relevant hashtag – e.g. #microchallenge34 – by November 21 (or email entries to walk1200km@lifestylepublishing.co.nz with the relevant hashtag in the subject line and the description in the email). Winners will be published in the January/February 2025 issue of Wilderness.
