DOC will unveil its new $11.4 million online booking system later this year.

Ross Shearer from DOC’s booking services said the new booking system would first be trialled for Great Walks bookings, before eventually being available for all huts and campsites.

“We are currently in the process of finalising the timeline, which will include when we open our Great Walks bookings to the public,” Shearer said. “We will provide an update on our website in May.”

Shearer said the new system would allow trampers to set-up, search, modify and cancel their bookings online.
