#microchallenge31: Play in the snow

Partner prize: Bridgedale Midweight Merino Performance Fit socks

Winning entry: Paula Lleras played in the snow at Aoraki / Mt Cook. “I had an ultimate alpine experience, flying by helicopter and landing at Tasman Glacier and then returning by ski plane.”
Jenny Weston and friends found some snow on the summit of 808m Kaiparoro in Tararua Forest Park.
Ali Middleton had plenty of snow to play with on a five-day snowshoeing trip with Alpine Recreation. “So much fun in the snow – simply stunning!”
Newbie participant Michelle Walker is just one month into the challenge. She found some snow on the Mt Robert Loop in Nelson Lakes National Park.
Marg and Malc Buchanan took a leap off the snow-covered water tank at Big Hut on the Rock and Pillar Range / Patearoa. “Storm force sub-zero winds provided the wintry challenge the next day!”

#microchallenge32: Show us how far you’ve walked by the state of your shoes

Partner prize: Salewa Mountain Trainer lite

Winning entry: David New Plymouth’s shoes have lasted 10 months of his Walk1200km challenge. “I’ve done 1200km in these, mainly 5.30am walks around Ōakura Village. Can’t wait for the sun and the next 1200km.”
Valerie Manna’s well-worn boots have taken her to Colin Todd Hut, across the Fox River and over rocky scrambles through Sawcut Gorge. But the Hooker Valley Track proved a walk too far. “I miss them already,” she says.

“These shoes have done some walking – I did 3100km in last year’s challenge and am closing in on 3500km this year,” says Sarah White. “Time for some new ones, methinks.”

Gay Hoffman has done more than 500km in these shoes.
Linda Johnson’s Salewa boots have covered just 81km. “They’re waiting for a clean after a damp walk through pasture and bush on Mt Ngongotaha.”
