Wrong ridge

On Middle Range. Photo: Chris Coutts

After spending the night camped at 1500m, we hiked over the Kaimanawa Mountains’ Middle Range for 13km to Junction Top. The sunset descent led us along two or three wrong ridges before we finally found the correct route down to Waipakihi Hut in darkness.
