Footing it across Harman footbridge. Photo: Pat Barrett

The Harman River footbridge, deep in the mountains of the West Coast, is about 40-50m above the riverbed – and quite a sensation to cross.

I wanted to capture this picture with my boot seemingly suspended above the stream while trying to maintain my balance and hold the camera steady. Even though I left my pack on the far bank, it was quite a juggle to get everything still.

Camera settings: Nikon D800, 1/50sec, f/11, ISO160.
