Garmont Nebraska GTX

Price:

$499

Our Rating:

One of the wider fitting boots in this review, with quite a rounded toe profile, the Nebraska is a smart looking boot suited to all tramping situations – equally at home on muddy tracks, or cramponing up a frozen slope. The boot’s leather is on the softer side, making for quick breaking-in and reliable use straight away and I liked that it was protected by a rubber rand right around the boot. This boot design also has few seams, guaranteeing longevity from the Gore-Tex lined upper.

In use I found them super comfortable, supportive in the ankle area; thanks to reasonably thick padding (the most of the reviewed boots) and extra height towards the back of the ankle. Thanks to a smooth lacing system and a light tongue gusset, there were no pressure points on the top of the foot. The boots felt light on the feet for three-to-four season boots and check in at 1500g.

The easy-clearing sole sheds mud and dirt well and provides plenty of grip thanks to an inset heel, as is common to all these boots. A layer of softer foam throughout the foot helps absorb shock and allows the sole to conform to the user’s foot.

The Nebraska GTX is a generalist that’s comfortable out of the box, very well made and suited to all tramping and transalpine tasks.
