Simone Shinnamon (12) and Penelope Hodgson (12) were happy as pīwakawaka after morning tea on the Greenstone–Caples circuit.

Parawai Tramping Club members bagged Punga Hut en route to North Mangahao Bivvy. The club is on a mission to bag all 56 huts in the range as part of the Tararua Challenge.

Gregory Banks (centre) headed up the west side of Taranaki Maunga with friends Claire, Janica, Phil and Barbara. “It was a long tramp from the park boundary, but well worth a visit,” he said.

On her 80th birthday, Mueller Hut warden Jennie Nicol helped band her namesake kea ‘Jennie’.

Chrissy Wickes and her son Shannon overshot Stafford Hut in South Westland. “We crossed the river a little deeper than necessary,” said Chrissy. “It was super hot so we didn’t mind the soak.”

Peter Tribe stayed at Hunts Creek Hut on a seven-day tramp in the Kelly Range. “My wife smuggled in a small birthday cake for my 73rd birthday,” he said.

Otis Berard, Yue Chin Chew and Michael Peplow traversed the Lockett Range in Kahurangi National Park. “It was a clear, cloudless day with loads more tops travel to go,” said Yue.

Jacob (14) and Ben Oxford (12) ticked off their fifth Great Walk – the mighty Whanganui Journey. An epic adventure with 20 friends and family!
