370m Turnbull Thomson Falls. Photo: Shaun Barnett

The 370m Turnbull Thomson Falls tumble from a hidden lake, through bluffs in the Kitchener Valley, Mt Aspiring National Park, to end in these beech-fringed flats. The flats contrast with the steep terrain, and the contrasting light and shadows helped give the picture more texture and depth.

Camera Settings: Nikon D700, 24-85mm Nikkor lens at 48mm, f16 @ 1/50 second, ISO 200.
