Albert Burn Hut, Albert Burn Conservation Area

Trampers not particularly fond of uphill slogs will relish this tramp – the total altitude gain is a mere 100m, spread over almost 8km.

The track winds its way above the Albert Burn gorge before fading out completely. From here it’s a relatively easy meander along the river flats before crossing the river and heading up towards the eight-bunk hut, located at the western end of a small terrace. Care should be taken around the livestock.
