What did you get up to last weekend?

Inna Alex climbed to Travers Saddle in Nelson Lakes National Park. “The weather was so stunning and still that I could camp right at the foot of Mt Travers. Simply spectacular,” she says.

Nicola Hill and Rosa Volz visited Awapoto Hut in the Abel Tasman. “We separately each decided to take a copy of Wilderness to leave in the hut,” said Nicola. “It was a lovely hut with a huge heap of freshly cut firewood.”

Lorraine Freeman went to great lengths to save her copy of Wilderness, after knocking her cuppa over it. “I protected every page with baking paper and placed it in a turned off but cooling down oven for a gentle dry out. It worked!”

Samuel Stephens was pleased to arrive at Sandfly Point on the Milford Track.

Alice Tolich and Leah Burson completed the Pouākai Circuit for the first time, and had the luxury of staying at the new Pouākai Hut.

Theo Grace spent five days on the Heaphy Track with his family. He enjoyed seeing nīkau palms and takahē for the first time.

Jacqui Hickman and Kirsty Nightingale enjoyed tramping the Old Ghost Road. Here they are at Lyell Saddle Hut.

Kia King walked the Nydia Track in Marlborough under sunny skies.

Marshall and Maureen Piercy walked the Heaphy Track together for the second time, 50 years after the first!

Jan, Hamish, Lachlan and Mia Barker visited Coal Creek Falls near Greymouth. “It’s a nice easy track with two waterfalls, so it’s perfect if you have small children,” Jan says.
