An off-the-beaten-track trip that showcases the best the Waitakere Ranges has to offer. From the car park the track winds its way gradually uphill.

Cross the first stream and turn right down the second – Cowans Stream.

A track does wind its way intermittently down the banks of the stream but expect to end up in the water at some point.

Highlights include numerous waterfalls and hidden pool.

There is a campsite at the end of the stream, but if you’re here for the day, walk back to the car on Buck Taylor Track. Expect to be gone for 8-10hr.
