On a recent snowshoeing trip in the Pisa Range we stopped off at Meg Hut where I took this night-time shot. We chose to use the outside fireplace as the one inside the hut is notoriously smoky. The interior was lit using two small candles and I used my head torch to paint light on the foreground grasses and tweaked the level slightly in Photoshop. The shot was taken using a tripod-mounted Canon 5D Mk2 on a seven-minute exposure at f5.6, ISO 50.
