Yoga trainer and Wellington Tramping Clubber Megan Sety stretches the hips

The Reclining Figure Four pose is both relaxing and provides a deep hip stretch

  1. Lie on your back. Bend your knees, bringing the soles of your feet to the floor
  2. Lift your left ankle bone on top of your right knee. Make sure not to bend or twist the ankle
  3. For the gentle option, lightly press your left knee away from you until you find a comfortable stretch
  4. For a stronger stretch, clasp your hands behind your right thigh or over the top of the right shin and slowly pull your right knee, and therefore left foot, towards you while also moving the left knee away from you
  5. Repeat on the other side
