Everything's so big. Photo: Jordan Reed

This photo was taken on day four of a Ball Pass crossing. We camped in the bowl right before the pass so we could wake early and ascend Kaitiaki Peak (2222m) to view the sunrise. As we were descending back to our camp, I noticed my friend silhouetted against the snow and mountains ahead, and I was in awe at the sense of scale.
