The first descent of Westland’s Toaroha Canyon required low water, climbing skills, bold decision making and a little luck! I took this image a few minutes after Keith Riley pulled down our rope, which would have provided escape. From this moment on we were committed. Shot on a Nikon D300s at F 5.6, 1/50 sec.
