Subscribers to Wilderness magazine receive their magazine in a plastic wrap that can be recycled in the Love NZ Soft Plastics scheme. This is currently the best way we can protect subscriber copies during the mailing process and keep it safe from the weather.

Is this the best solution for our environment going forward? We’re not sure – but we’re doing our best to look at alternatives as part of a magazine industry initiative.

The magazine industry in New Zealand is exploring all the options – improved recycling options, home compostable alternatives and so on.

There’s no one perfect answer, but the magazine industry is working with resource recovery experts WasteMINZ on a reader survey to help find one.

We want to know what recycling and composting choices you have at your place, and what works best for your lifestyle.
