Tramper Geoff Norman crosses the swingbridge over the Whangaehu River Bridge, Round the Mountain Track, Tongariro National Park. The Whangaehu is the valley down which periodic lahars flow from Mt Ruapehu’s Crater Lake, and previous versions of this bridge have been wiped out in such events.
