#microchallenge1 Partner prize: Rab Nexus Pull-on worth $139.95

Each month we set three new #microchallenges to add interest and silliness to your kilometres.

These three #microchallenges will help you better appreciate your surroundings and have fun on your walks. Our favourite nine #microchallenge completers receive a Walk1200km badge. The best entry for each challenge receives a prize from our partners.

#microchallenge1: Share an ambition

You want to Walk1200km this year, but tell us something else you aim to do in 2024 – like walk a certain track, fix a friendship, achieve something at work or in your personal life. #microchallenge1

Partner prize: Rab Nexus Pull-on worth $139.95

#microchallenge2: Hike a pā site

There are more than 5000 historic pā sites around the country many with information panels. Find one you can hike around and share a photo of yourself on the walk along with the best thing you learned about the pā. #microchallenge2

Partner prize: A pair of feet-warming Bridgedale Midweight Merino Performance Fit socks

#microchallenge3: Walk in a local reserve or park

Walk in a local reserve, take a photo of yourself at your favourite part, then tell us what makes this place so special. #microchallenge3

Partner prize: A $100 voucher from retail partner FurtherFaster

How to enter

You must be a registered Walk1200km participant to win (register here, if you haven’t already). Take a photo of yourself completing the challenge (yes, people make a photo more interesting and winsome!) and share it on the Walk1200km Facebook group with a descriptive caption and using the relevant hashtag – e.g. #microchallenge1 – by December 21 (or email entries to walk1200km@lifestylepublishing.co.nz with the relevant hashtag in the subject line and the description in the email). Winners will be published in the February 2024 issue of Wilderness.
