Last Christmas Eve, we climbed The Footstool in Aoraki/Mt Cook National Park. Conditions were perfect and the splendid morning view included majestic Aoraki/Mt Cook as well as neighbouring Mt Sefton.

The climb took just three hours from Sefton Bivouac – two nights here was a great bonus to exchanging the madness of Christmas shopping for summer serenity in the Southern Alps.
