DOC is reminding people to be careful crossing streams on the Dart Track after a bridge on the track was damaged about a month ago.

The bridge crossed Spaniard Creek at the bottom of Surveyor’s Flat, about an hour from the Paradise Road end, or three hours from Daleys Flat Hut. The bridge was closed and the creek would have to be forded.

Senior ranger Richard Kennett said the creek was normally about ankle deep, but it could be difficult to cross in high flows, and it was raining steadily in Glenorchy.

“There are many unbridged creeks on the Rees and Dart tracks that people have to be cautious of,” Kennett said.

The bridge was damaged by a falling tree and would be replaced in about a couple of months, he said.
