After 20 years of leading the pack, Big Agnes decided to make their own.

Big Agnes has spent the last 20 years figuring out how to sleep more comfortably outdoors. Along the way, awards have been won, industry-leading tent designs and manufacturing have been introduced and its original sleep system has evolved into an entire sleeping bag and mattress line. Last year, the company decided it was time to carry all that gear in their own Big Agnes packs.

The Copper Spur of packs

Big Agnes packs include an entire collection from daypacks to large-capacity multi-dayers. The intention was to create the ‘Copper Spur of packs’. Big Agnes’s award-winning Copper Spur tents integrate tough and ultralight materials with packable yet spacious design. This evolved into ultralight and minimalist ideas, with the concept of ‘carrying the weight in your pack, not the pack weight’.

Designing with intention

Big Agnes designers and developers worked for two years to combine recycled and durable materials with lightweight attributes. A minimalist approach was taken: gear-specific pocket designs were eliminated and replaced by versatile stash-mesh and enclosed zip options. In overnight and multi-day packs, stability and load transfer were prioritised. The suspension system – from the hipbelt to shoulder straps – integrates directly into the frame which allows more weight to be carried, more comfortably.

There’s a Big Agnes pack for every adventure

Day pack: Impassable 20 $360

The Impassable 20 is built for extended day trips and lightweight excursions. This pack has a compression-moulded back panel, contoured shoulder straps, and a foam padded hip belt, all designed for comfort. 680g.

Day/overnight pack: Ditch Rider 32 $380

The Ditch Rider 32 is a streamlined, comfortable pack, using ultralight sustainable materials combined with the latest technical features and variety of storage options. 907g.

Overnight/thru-hiking pack: Sun Dog 45/ Prospector 50 $430

Big Agnes’s philosophy is: ‘your pack shouldn’t weigh more than the gear inside’. The women’s Sun Dog 45 and men’s Prospector 50 will fit a wearer securely and cope with an 18kg maximum load – enough for overnight trips and thru-hikes. 1280g (w) 1450g (m).

Multi-day pack: Garnet 60/Parkview 63 $500

The women’s Garnet 60 and men’s Parkview 63 have injection moulded frame sheets that are anatomically designed and feature custom adjustments for a perfect fit. There are multiple storage/organiser options, including removable lid and hipbelt pockets. 1620g (w), 1640g (m).
