Christchurch retailer Further Faster has picked up the mountain running brand OMM.
OMM clothing and equipment is a UK brand named after the Original Mountain Marathon, a mountain race started in 1968. The 56th running of the race will take place in the Lake District in October 2025. It is a navigation-based course over two days, with a self-sufficient camp. It can cover up to 100km in distance and 2200m of elevation.
The brand’s technical clothing and equipment is designed for use in races such as the Original Mountain Marathon. OMM created the the first fully waterproof stretch fabric over 20 years ago, which has been improved upon over time and is the basis of it ‘Kamleika’ Collection of jackets, pants, shorts and skirts that don’t rustle as you run. OMM also created the PointZero Fully Windproof fabric with a DWR coating and the PointZero H20 fabric, a fully wind and waterproof race-weight fabric.
There’s also a series of race packs and vests with attachments to add ‘pods’ to suit the race being run. These can be an added chest pocket on the front of a pack for things like a compass and map, and extra storage for poles, water bottles and other gear needed close at hand.
“We’re excited to work with OMM and bring their technical products to New Zealand’s outdoor community,” said Further Faster co-owner Julie-Anne Christy.” is excited to have a new highly technical brand for mountain runners in store at Further Faster: “We are passionate about providing high-quality gear that meets the needs of trail and mountain runners, and OMM’s range is a perfect fit for our customers.”
