On the Broken River skifield, take the well-graded Mistletoe Track, which begins by crossing Cave Stream before heading north-west over a grassy terrace and through regenerating mountain beech. The dual-use, dog-friendly track sidles northwards at a steady gradient and reaches Lyndon Saddle after 45–60min. Beware of mountain bikers heading in either direction.

At Lyndon Saddle a DOC sign indicates the way south-east up Helicopter Hill Track. The 1256m summit of Helicopter Hill can be reached in about 20min and is marked by a cairn. There are panoramic views of the Craigieburn and Torlesse ranges above and snaking SH73 below.Return to Lyndon Saddle and turn right (north) to follow The Luge Track. The trail sidles down to Craigieburn Valley for about 600m through tussock-covered slopes and mountain beech. Turn right at the junction onto Craigieburn Edge Track and follow this to the Craigieburn Ski Club 4WD road. This is also a dual-use track.

Continue south-east along the ski club road, past the gate and car park, for about 30min until the sign for Sidle 73 Track appears on the right.

This easy trail begins as an old 4WD track through grassy flats before becoming a single track that heads into beech forest. After about 20min the trail joins Mistletoe Track 5–10min from the car park.
