Rab are masters of insulation. It’s been over 40 years since the first Rab sleeping bag was hand cut, sewn and filled in Sheffield, England.
The same earlier values – paying attention to the smallest detail, and simplest innovation – have been carried forward to the present day, so much so that the company remains committed to making sleeping bags that will last a lifetime.
Rab is driven by a pursuit of excellence and believes the best way to control the quality of its sleeping bags is to fill them in its own factory in Derbyshire. Once filled, the bags are stored uncompressed and leave the factory in the best possible condition.
Down insulation is an integral part of Rab’s heritage and all down is sourced from within Europe. It’s processed with a PFC-free hydrophobic treatment developed with Nikwax that allows less water to be absorbed when the down is exposed to damp conditions.
From farm to factory, every stage of the process is Responsible Down Standard certified.
Almost all Rab sleeping bags utilise box wall baffle construction which separates the inner and outer fabrics and allows the down to fully loft, maximising trapped air, increasing warmth and eliminating cold spots.
Rab uses the European EN13537 standard to rate the comfort, limit and extreme ratings as well as their own Rab Sleep limit.
Rab bags use a variety of fabric technologies, from the light and packable 7D Pertex Quantum to weather-resistant Pertex Quantum Pro, and Thermo Ionic Lining Technology that reflects warmth onto the user.
It’s recognised that women generally have a lower skin temperature than men, so Rab’s women’s bags are tailored for this by adjusting a bag’s length and size, and redistributing the down around the foot box and torso to help with temperature regulation.
