Help your equipment last longer, keep your gear storage cleaner, and do your future self a favour.

Clothing

  • Outerwear: Wash tech outerwear with tech wash & treat with DWR as needed. Renews breathability and water repellancy!
  • Wash your clothes. Yeah you. Don’t pile them on your floor for two weeks.
  • Boots: Treat leather boots & dry slowly to prevent cracking.
  • Boots: Scrub with non-wire brush! Dirt corrodes stitching.
    • Bonus! Dust baking soda on solesto absorbs odour
  • Headlamp: Replace/recharge batteries in headlamps & electronics before you forget & go out again with a dead light…
    • Bonus! Remove all batteries for long-term storage due to corrosion.

Gear

  • Pack: Dump out the pine needles & dirt.
  • Pack: Don’t leave yourself a rotting surprise. Check all pockets.
  • Sleeping bag: Washdown as needed with down-specific wash. Fluff in the dryer with tennis balls & store decompressed. Front load washer only!
  • Mat: Air-dry your mat! Even if you don’t think its wet.
    • Bonus! Check for pin-hole leaks by sinking it in a bath tub. Mark it & patch!
  • Tent: Set up your tent! Knock the dirt out & let air. Wash according to manufacturer if needed (usually damp cloth + mild soap)
    • Bonus! Wash your tent pegs to stop the spread of soil-borne diseases!
