#microchallenge4: Leave only footprints

Each month three new #microchallenges are set to add interest and silliness to your kilometres.

These three fun #microchallenges will help you better appreciate your surroundings and have fun on your walks. Our favourite six #microchallenge completers receive a Walk1200km badge, while the best entry for each challenge receives a prize from our partners.

#microchallenge4: Leave only footprints

Whether you’re walking at the beach or on a muddy track this month, we want to see the only thing you should leave behind: your footprints. We want to know what brought you there, too. #microchallenge4

Partner prize: Pair of feet-warming Bridgedale Midweight Merino Performance Fit socks.

#microchallenge5: Kiss a cairn (or track marker)

Cairns and track markers show the way and help to prevent us getting lost, so how about giving a grateful smooch to the next cairn or marker you pass. We want to know which track you’re on and what you liked about it. #microchallenge5

Partner prize: Big Agnes Impassable 20 pack worth $360!

#microchallenge6: Cook up a storm

Take a photo of you enjoying a Back Country Cuisine meal – it doesn’t matter where (at home, in the wild). If there’s a view, show it, and tell us which is your favourite BCC flavour. (Our favourite 10 entries will receive a runners-up prize of a BCC meal!). #microchallenge6

Partner prize: A $100 Back Country Cuisine voucher.

How to enter

You must be a registered Walk1200km participant to win. Take a photo of yourself completing the challenge (yes, people make a photo more interesting and winsome!) and share it on the Walk1200km Facebook group with a descriptive caption and using the relevant hashtag – e.g. #microchallenge6 – by January 22 (or email entries to walk1200km@lifestylepublishing.co.nz with the relevant hashtag in the subject line and the description in the email). Winners will be published in the March 2024 issue of Wilderness
