Winner (featured): Carol White went 10 times higher than required: 1688m Mt Somers. “So happy to have made it!” she said.

Stacey Bateman got above 160m on Isthmus Peak near Hāwea. “Not sure I’d describe this as a ‘micro’ challenge,” he said, “but I’ve been wanting to do Isthmus Peak for a while.”

Donna Millar made it to 752m when visiting Nina Hut in Lewis Pass. “It was so cold the water tank was frozen!”
#microchallenge26: Create your own quote about walking
Partner prize: Bridgedale Midweight Merino Performance Fit socks

Winner: Kim Lynn’s quote was brilliant in its brevity and simplicity:
“When you walk outside, you soar inside.”
– Kim Lynn
In a busy world, walking offers the starkest of simplicities – just put one foot in front of the other.”
– Kahurangi Tapsell
The only time I feel right with the world is when I’m walking … one foot in front of the other, as natural as my heartbeat.”
– Paula Thompson
#microchallenge27: Find two things of the same weight.
Partner prize: $100 voucher from retail partner Further Faster

Winner: Joy Bryant found two similarly weighted pieces of driftwood. “A walk along Kina Beach (Nelson) meant clambering over a huge pile of driftwood after recent stormy weather,” she said. These two pieces weighed 334g and 336g. A good effort, well done!

Leanne Robertson found two ringed mollusc shells during a morning beach walk. “I thought they would be around 80g each but they were lighter than expected, coming in at 60g and 64g.”

Jenny Morris’s entry was on the light side. Her two bits of rubbish came in at a whopping 0g each. “They were certainly lightweight, so much so that my kitchen scales would not register them when I weighed them.”
