If you’re interested in local history, spend an afternoon walking along the York Loop Track near the base of Mt Taranaki.

The track follows the route of the old Egmont Branch Railway Line and Old Service Rd and passes remnants of workers accommodation and the wooden railway lines dating back to the turn of the 20th century.

The well-graded track has numerous markers along the way pointing out areas of interest.
