From the car park, the track descends through the forest towards the Eglinton River, which is crossed on a walkwire.

Soon after the track splits to provide access to Mistake and Hut valleys. Take the Mistake Valley track until the main tributary of the creek which will lead to U Pass.

It’s a sharp 500m descent down a rocky gut to Hut Creek. The way out of Hut Creek is not as obvious as Mistake Creek, but a track is reached in the lower reaches of the valley.
