From the end of Brook St. Walk up the link track to Coleman's Spur, signposted directly beyond The Brook/Waimarina Sanctuary building and car park. Alternatively, a quicker route is from the Maimai Dam, directly up to Dun Saddle

This route to Rocks Hut also takes in a diversion to Dun Mountain (1129m), one of the highest hills in the Bryant Range.

Take the Dun Mountain Walkway to Third House Shelter and onwards on the relatively easy-gradient track to Coppermine Saddle and then Dun Saddle.

The short climb to Dun Mountain will take 30min and is worth the effort.

The 20-bunk Rocks Hut is a further 70min away.
