The Mount Richmond Forest Park is often considered a poor cousin to Abel Tasman, but for a quick trip close to home, Lake Chalice Hut is hard to beat.
The kids will love this easy day track that can be easily made into an overnighter. From the car park the track descends for an hour until Lake Chalice Hut is reached.
From the hut it’s a further two and a half hours to complete the full circle of the picturesque lake.
