The track is a well-marked circuit with one hut – Kapakapanui Hut – en-route.
Taking the southern branch of the track to the summit, a steady 700m climb through changing undergrowth and bush is made to the trig.

Continue on to the six-bunk Kapakapanui Hut where you can turn the trip into an overnighter.
