For an off-the-beaten-track winter trip, look no further than Crow Hut. You,ll have wet feet by the end of it, but the satisfaction of knowing that you’re unlikely to meet many tramping parties en route.

Crow Hut is located partway up the Crow River, about five kilometres upstream from the confluence between the Crow and Waimakariri Rivers.

The hut is nestled in a tussock clearing above the river.

DOC warns if the Waimakariri River is high or in flood you are best to find a safe place to wait for levels to drop.
